The show was a great day, albeit a little hot.  A total of 22 dogs attended.

Fanuilos kennels did pretty well at the show.

Our girl Alpinarc Envy Me, Freyja, took out the Best in Show award.

Amazing Ultrasound Pictures

A few weeks ago we found out Freyja was only pregnant with one puppy and we were a little disappointed as we had found some superb homes for the pups in this litter, but we were also happy as we had thought she was not pregnant at all as she wasn’t showing any signs of pregnancy other than being hungrier but which could have been explained by the very cold weather we have had here lately.

On Wednesday night Scott and Freyja went to Wyndham Vet Clinic for another ultrasound to check where B Litter puppy is sitting so we can determine a whelping plan.

I am very impressed with the quality of the new ultrasound machine now available at Wyndham Vet Clinic and the details seen compared to our previous ultrasounds.  Dr John Watts was also able to speculate on the sex of the puppy but this is not guaranteed, just like with human babies!

Alternatively, if you are at a workplace that blocks youtube, try this:

hint: just add “kick” right in front of “youtube” and it will load up the video you were trying to look at.

Fanuilos A Litter Turns One

On the 17th of April our A litter had their first birthday.  Feedback from all the parents suggest the pups were spoilt rotten on the day (and every day)

Freyja has Artificial Insemination

We have started the process of Artificial Insemination for Freyja for her first litter.  The sire selected is Derwish Devil von der Nordhelle.  This will be Freyja’s first litter and Devil’s first litter in Australia.

Freyja (Alpinarc Envy Me) came into season on the 21th of March.  Her first progesterone test was on Monday the 23rd of March, or Day 3
Day 3 – 3.8nmol

Day 5 – 2.91nmol

Day 7 – 3.80nmol

Day 10 -14.8nmol

Day 11 - 25.2 nmol

Freyja's Progesterone Chart

Freyja was ready for AI, and was taken to Monash Vet Clinic on the Wednesday night for her operation on Thursday.  By Thursday, Day 13,  her progesterone levels had reached 70 nmols, which would be her peak.  The operation occurred without a hitch and now we just have the waiting game.

Thanks to Wyndham Vet Clinic for doing the Progesterone testing and Monash Vet Clinic for doing the insemination.
