Australian Kennel of White Shepherd Dogs
Today we took Elli for a herding lesson, and she basically tried to eat a sheep 
Elli has never seen a sheep up close, so I think she was a little confused about what they were. She barked at the sheep and then stalked them and nipped one of the sheep’s behind. She wasn’t the worst behaved on the day.
We will definitely give it another try as she seemed to have the general idea.
On the weekend, we took Elli to KCC Park, which is owned and operated by the VCA
We went with the WGSDCV, although the event was being run by the Rhodesian Ridgeback club. It was the first time we have been able to go lurecoursing as KCC park is 160km round trip from our home. Elli just loved it! We’ll be attending the next time it is being run.
Sovereign Park Minerva’s MDR1 test results have been added to an international database of MDR1 statuses for various breeds which are affected by mutations in the gene.
The White Shepherd is just one of the breeds of dogs on the website.
We had a sample of Elli’s DNA collected early last week so she could be profiled and tested for her IVM/MDR1 and von Willebrand’s Disease status. The results were just returned to us and she is Clear [Normal:Normal] of both diseases.
Today Sovereign Park Minerva took out 1st Female Junior, 1st Challenge Bitch/Bitch in Show, Runner Up Best in Show at the Victorian state show of the White Swiss Shepherd Dog Club of Australia. Elli came runner up to her half brother Sovereign Park Orion.
Elli also did well in the fun classes, with a 1st in Female Head, 1st Female Hindquarter, 3rd in Female forequarter, and 3rd in Female coat (her coat was just too soft).
Scott also came 3rd in best handler over 30, which was pretty good considering this was his first weekend of handling ever.

We had a bit of good news on the weekend, we were able to place Misty in a new forever home. She has gone to a lady in a nearby suburb, her family has had white GSDs in Australia and the UK since the 30s and she just loves them. Her most recent GSD passed away in January at the ripe old age of 14. She was missing the doggy companionship and found Misty online.
Misty settled in nicely yesterday after a quick visit to the vet. Our dog Elli is missing Misty but it is good that she has gone to a home where she will be loved.
Michelle Nimmo of Fanuilos White Shepherds has recently become an authorised DNA collector with Genetic Technologies. Michelle will be able to collect DNA for profiling, confirming parentage and disease analysis, the DNA from ANKC registered dogs will be sent to Genetic Technologies for inclusion with the ANKC DNA scheme. She will also be able to collect samples for the White Shepherd community at shows and other events. Fanuilos White Shepherds is a strong believer in collecting all the health information available on our dogs, both the breeding/showing stock and puppies placed in pet homes. This ensures we can improve our breeding program by allowing us to carefully select breeding pairs to avoid known genetic diseases.
We would encourage all breeders of White Shepherds to test their breeding stock and puppies for the benefit of our breed.
