Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it’s Super Elli pups!

Fanuilos White Shepherds are pleased to annouce the arrival of our Sovereign Park Minerva x UKC Grand Ch/ IABCA CH Tumbledowns Super Sonic litter last night and this morning. The litter consists of 4 females and 2 males.

Gold Girl - born 8.18pm 17/04/08 - weight - 460 grams

Emerald Girl - born 11.10pm - weight - 452 grams

Ruby Girl - born 11.33pm - weight - 398 grams

Purple Boy - born 12.22am 18/04/08 - weight - 526 grams

Unfortunately after Purple boy was born - Elli was exhausted and continued to have contractions but pups did not appear. We knew from the x-ray we did last week that Elli was going to have 6 pups and could feel the two pups inside her. The pups were a fair distance back from the birth canal. So we waited a while. Two hours past and we called the emergency vet centre, took her in with the pups and got several shots of oxytonin over a couple of hours. 4.30am arrived and still no pups. The vet did an ultrasound and listened to the heart rates of the pups, one was a little distressed by nothing urgent and the other one was just fine. We opted for one more shot of oxytonin, now Elli’s third and waited another half an hour and she went in for a C-section. We are pretty sure the issue was sheer exhaustion as Elli nearly fell asleep standing up at the vets.

The last two pups were born vis C-section at about 7.30am.

Royal Blue boy - weight approximately 500 grams

Silver Girl - weight approximately 400 grams.

Congratulations to Stella and Spook for the arrival of their 11 beautiful pups, delivered on Sunday the 6th of April.  Stella whelped 7 girls and 4 boys into the world.  Mum and Pups are all healthy.

Congratulations to Jason and Louise Smith on the arrival of the first litter for their new kennel.  These dogs will be an asset to the breed in Australia.

Sovereign Park Minerva (Elli) visited the vet today to have an ultrasound. The ultrasound confirmed she is pregnant. Due to this being such an early stage of the pregnancy, the images were not clear enough to confirm numbers.

Elli is going back to the vet for an additional ultrasound next week so more information can be provided.

Unfortunately, we are saddened to announced the passing of Tumbledown’s Super Sonic on the 19th of February, 2008.

Super is a dog who has contributed greatly to the white shepherd community throughout the world including Australia, and will live on through his offspring and beyond.

Super was born on the 06/03/1996 and was just shy of his 12th birthday when he passed. This grand old man of the dog world will be sorely missed.

We at Fanuilos hope Super will live on through our dog Freyja (Alpinarc Envy Me), Super is Freyja’s great great grandsire and her line is a testament to the quality of dog Super has produced. We also hope our recent AI procedure with Super semen over our dog Elli (Sovereign Park Minerva) is successful and continues to add quality dogs to Super’s legacy in Australia.

Our thoughts go out to Rhonda at Surefire Shepherds in her time of sorrow.

Elli was artificially inseminated for her first litter today. The litter is with
UKC Grand CH/IABCA CH Tumbledowns Super Sonic.

We’ll will be confirming the pregnancy by ultrasound in approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

If all was successful, we expect puppies in mid April.

Good news - after a delay of 4 months, Elli has finally come into season. We start the process of hormone testing on the 5th of February and she should be mated via AI some time in the next 2 weeks.

We have been planning this mating for over a year and the litter should be quite exciting.

If everything is successful, we expect the pups to arrive in early April 2008. We are still taking reservations for this litter.

 Update - 09/01/2008

All but one of these dogs have found a new forever home.

8 WS are requiring new homes, these dogs are free to good homes (excluding desexing costs and transportation) on the provisions they are desexed.

The ages of the dogs are from 12 months to 9 years and both sexes are available.

We have added a new puppy to the Fanuilos family. Alpinarc Envy Me arrived in Melbourne from Alpinarc White Shepherds in NSW yesterday. We have given her the pet name Freyja. We are so excited to have Freyja in our lives and thank Angela Sneddon of Alpinarc White Shepherds for the honour of allowing Freyja to join our family.

Freyja is a special little girl.

Today we took Elli for a herding lesson, and she basically tried to eat a sheep
Elli has never seen a sheep up close, so I think she was a little confused about what they were. She barked at the sheep and then stalked them and nipped one of the sheep’s behind. She wasn’t the worst behaved on the day.
We will definitely give it another try as she seemed to have the general idea.
