Freya’s Pennhip Results are in

We received Freyja’s Pennhip results from the USA.

DI Left - 0.32

Di Right - 0.32

We’re very happy with the results.

Freyja will now enter our breeding program when she is over the age of 18 months, we do not anticipate her having her first litter until she is at least 2 years old. A mate for her first litter has already been selected and will be announced once any pregnancy has been confirmed.

Freyja will still be temperament tested in the coming months but we do not envisage this being an issue as she has a lovely temperament.

Freyja (Alpinarc Envy Me) Hip/Elbow scores in

Well we have Freyja’s Hip and Elbow scores. And while they might be the scores we expected to get, we are resigned to accept what we got.

To those not familiar, for elbow scores are out of 0 to 3.

0 is no fault.
1 is minor elbow fault
2 is moderate elbow fault
3 is a serious elbow fault.

The WSSDCA will accept a 3 (Serious fault) and UAP: 1 (with a minor fault on the other).
The WGSDAV will fail any dog with a serious elbow fault (including UAP).
Fanuilos has a personal cutoff of 1 (only clear, or minor fault).

For hips:

Scores between 0 and 6 are allocated for all criteria, except the caudal acetabular edge, for which the maximum score is 5. For a maximum of 106.

The WSSDCA cut off for breeding is 35.
The WGSDAV is 30.

Freyja turns 1!!!

Our girl Freyja turned 1 year old on the 2nd of August. She has turned in to a lovely big dog with a fantastic temperament. Freyja was hip and elbow scored yesterday and we are now waiting for the results from both the AVA and Pennhip. Ray at Monash did the x-rays and has advised that her joints look very good so we expect favourable results.

If her scores turn out within our personal breeding cut off, Freyja will be temperament tested and join our breeding program. Freyja will not be mated until mid to late 2009, the stud dog being used in the mating will be made public at this time.

Huaka Arrives Safely

We received confirmation that Huaka, Fanuilos Love Hungry Man AI, arrived safely in Hawaii yesterday morning. He met Maka, Kuali - from Alpinarc White Shepherds, and his new parents.

Kuali and Huaka have become friends already with Kuali loving having a puppy around. Kuali is our girl Freyja’s littermate.

Yesterday, Huaka, Fanuilos Love Hungry Man AI, AKA Royal Blue Boy, left us for his long journey to Hawaii.

Last week saw the second last of our A litter go to her new home. Now only Blue Boy (Fanuilos Love Hungry Man AI) AKA Huaka remains, waiting for his flight to Hawaii.

Purple boy (Fanuilos Shoot to Thrill AI) AKA Baldr is remaining at Fanuilos White Shepherds to join Elli and Freyja as beloved family pets.

The B Litter Has Arrived

Fanuilos White Shepherds are pleased to annouce the arrival of our Michelle Brooks x Scott Nimmo on the weekend. The litter consists of only one female.

“Gold Girl” Lillian Rose - born 21.21 24/05/08 - weight - 3590 grams
- length - 49.5 cm

Elli of course has shown her experience and is now watching the new litter with interest.

To those interested in a Fanuilos puppy, we are sorry to say that there are none available in this litter but stay tuned for our next litter.

The Great Escape

As the pups approach 4 weeks of age, they are now beginning to be an little bit more adventurous and curious about the surrounding world.

Puppies at 3 weeks

The puppies are now all just over 3 weeks of age and are growing rapidly. Everyone has had a couple of meals of meat (just a little taste) and are all very active. We’ve had two escapees from the whelping box, Purple and Gold. Purple is the biggest of all and Silver is the smallest. Their little personalities are developing well and they have been receiving lots of attention from all our doggy friends. Also, they have all met their big sister Freyja in the last couple of days.

Here are some photos. Unfortunately due to their plush coats, it is some times hard to see the ribbons in the photos so I may not have labelled the kids correctly.
